That's my all-time favorite movie quote.  The line is from A New Leaf (1971), a black comedy written and directed by Elaine May.

Well, I'm not here to compile movie quotes under generic headings of "favorite" and "fun" and "cool" and "quotable."  I set up the website as a tie-in to the book I wrote on screenwriting dialogue. 

I couldn't put everything I learned and quotes I picked up in one book so a website is a good place to archive and share them with my fellow screenwriters.  Under THE QUOTES VAULT are categorized lists of quotes that did not make the book cut.     

In THE BASICS OF MOVIE DIALOGUE, I summarize the nuggets of advice that every screenwriter needs to appreciate in crafting good dialogue.

And while I'm promoting DIALOGUE DEVICES FOR THE SCREENWRITER (2009), I would also like to pay tribute to to the screen dialogue of the incomparable Billy Wilder, arguably the best screenwriter-director combination of all time in THE DIALOGUE OF BILLY WILDER.   

The funnest part of the site is  THE SMILEY GAME where you can play a challenging puzzlelike game of identifying movies from clues made up of that ubiquitous shorthand of the internet - the smiley or emoticon.
